ROSEMARY WENT TO YELLOWSTONE PARK IN SPRING

Dear Friends
Just a short note to catch you up on our lives.
Luis continues to take care of our Grandson two days per week. OK, I know people said being a grandparent was better than being a parent, but it is TOO true. Jose Luis turned two at the end of October. The last weeks have been amazing in terms of development: vocabulary, dancing, imagination, and singing— and, yes, some of those
Terrible two-ism behaviours (that are mostly funny). As you can see from the photo above, this year I taught him the Barker family secret of making/decorating Gingerbread houses (and eating a lot of sugar in the process). This started
With my Mom; then to me; passed on to Carlos and Luis; and now to Jose Luis.
I am still working professionally. Also continuing my commitment to Rotary. This is my second year heading up the Training Program for the Rotary Governors in the west of the US/Canada (25 in the following years: 2009-2010, 2010-2011, & 2011-2012). It is an honour to work with the Rotarians who volunteer their time and talent to train these individuals.
No international travel or international volunteer work in 2009. Perhaps in 2010. I continue to speak on the subject of generational diversity at numerous Rotary events. One such event took Luis and me to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in April --- and we took the opportunity to travel to Mt. Rushmore, Devil’s Tower & Yellowstone Park (complete with snow!).
UW Husky football team “coming back” from the depths. So this was a much better year.
The rest of the family is doing well. Carlos is working in Market Research. His wife, Jen, started Law school at Seattle U (in addition to her fulltime job). Luis Felipe is working hard on his Law practice in Seattle.
We had family here from Guatemala. Luis’ niece Lucy, her husband Hugo and kids came for a visit in the spring. Nice when family makes the long trip.
We are looking forward to a much better 2010—and wish the same to you and yours.
